Case Study on Website and CMS Development for MISTIC

About the Client

Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council (MISTIC) is a council set up by the Government of Mizoram in 1985 to encourage and promote science and technology activities in the state. It is functioning under the aegis of Directorate of Science & Technology under Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Govt of Mizoram. It is supported by the State Government and Department of Science & Technology of the Central Government.

 

MISTIC approached us to create a new version of their website which was developed and hosted by Mizoram State e-Governance Society (MSeGS). The old website was using Senhri CMS (CMS developed by MSeGS for Govt. of Mizoram), which doesn’t meet their requirements. The main issue was the layout of the website which was not attractive and confusing to the visitors.

We first met with them at our office to discuss their requirements and how we can provide our services. Mr. Joel Lalbiakkima, Scientific Officer, the point of contact, was brilliant and very understanding throughout the development process.

The whole project is divided into two main chunks – the website and the CMS. As mentioned earlier, we used our in-house CMS called KurtaiCMS and customized as per their needs (discussed in detail below). The layout of the website can be divided into four layout designs – Homepage, Single post pages (News, Events, Forms, Questionnaire, Job Openings, etc.), listing pages, and gallery.

KurtaiCMS basic features have the following features –

• Website Analytics from Google Analytics
• Page Management
• Post Management
• Menu Management
• File Management
• Multi-user account system with access levels

Apart from this, MISTIC requires the following add-on features –

• Messenger – SMS and Email notification
• Form Builder and Response management
• Questionnaire builder and results as charts
• Video Gallery management

All these features (including the basic features) can be further modified as per the clients’ requirements. MISTIC also requests some feature changes which we did a few times over the development period.
